Charis Baker
Founder and Coach
Charis' primary goal in both competition and coaching is to cultivate skills that enable young people to clearly and confidently speak truth to a broken and hurting world. Charis' goal is "that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" as 1 Peter 2:9 says. In a culture that will surround them with darkness, Charis prays that there will be a people who cannot help but proclaim the light....

FAQ
What events has Charis coached?
Since her sophomore year in high school, Charis has coached Lincoln Douglas debate, Parliamentary debate, interpretive speeches, platform speeches, and limited prep speeches in Stoa, NCFCA, and NSDA.
What coaching experience does Charis have?
Charis has worked with local clubs, online students, numerous coaching companies, and summer camps in a variety of speech and debate formats. She has coached over 100 students in their pursuit of excellence.
What are Charis' goals in coaching?
In light of the great blessing she's received from mentors, coaches, and most importantly, her parents, Charis' goal is to give back to the community that has given her some of the most valuable skills and experiences of her life. She loves to encourage younger competitors and help advanced competitors improve their strategy and meet their goals. Whether you're looking to complete your very first practice round or win a tournament, Charis would love to help you succeed. Above all else, Charis believes that the greatest goal of speaking is to do so with grace and clarity in a way that brings truth to a hurting and broken world.
What makes Speaking with Grace's casebook unique?
Most casebooks you're familiar with will release 10-12 cases at the beginning of the season. As Stoa LD will have three resolutions this year, Charis believes it is important that students are as prepared as possible as early as possible. She plans to release cases on all five proposed resolutions at the beginning of the year, then an individual casebook as each new resolution is announced.
Do I have to compete in Stoa?
No! Charis is familiar with a variety of speech and debate leagues (Stoa, NCFCA, NSDA). Charis would also love to work with you if you have no desire to compete. If you're simply looking for a public speaking class, reach out and we'll get something scheduled!
